Soprano Susan Mohini Kane and pianist Kristof Van Gryspeer perform on Nov. 4.

Experience “A Moment of Joy” with soprano Susan Mohini Kane and pianist Kristof Van Gryspeer at a CD release party at RedWhite+Bluezz Wine Bar + Grill in Pasadena on Wednesday, Nov. 4. The duo will perform a free concert of art songs and arias from Kane’s “A Moment of Joy.” The evening will also feature an auction to benefit two local nonprofit organizations: Intimate Opera Company and the Los Angeles chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Proceeds from dinner and drinks purchased will also benefit these groups; seating will be at 6 and 6:30 p.m., and a full menu and bar will be available. The concert will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Kane is a professor and freelance artist based in LA. Our own Culture Spot music critic Theodore Bell described her as having a “crystal-clear voice and impeccable technique” in her recent performance with Intimate Opera. Van Gryspeer was hailed by the Orange County Register as “gifted and stylistically impeccable.” Currently living in his native Belgium, Van Gryspeer has returned to the States for the CD release.

The Intimate Opera Company presents fully staged operas in English with chamber orchestra and hosts the annual Youth Vocal Competition and Summer Vocal Workshop. NATS-LA is the largest chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging the highest standards of singing through excellence in teaching and the promotion of vocal education and research.
