Pasadena-based Lineage Dance troupe performs dance concerts to benefit charitable organizations, but their upcoming shows are gala events to help them raise more funds to continue that mission. On Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30 and June 5 and 6, the group presents “The Brain in Motion: A Dance Journey into the Art & Science of the Mind” at the Armory Center for the Arts. It’s an appropriate theme for a city shared by Caltech, JPL, Art Center College of Design and numerous museums that have also explored the intersection of the two disciplines.
At these events, Lineage Dance will unveil Artistic Director Hilary Thomas’ latest work, featuring new music by John Guth and guest performances by actors Margee Magee and Angeli Millan. Cocktails, appetizers and silent auction start at 7 p.m. Dessert and drinks follow.

Last night’s performance by Lineage Dance was emotionally engaging, intellectually fascinating, haunting in its complexity…the contemporary interior of the Armory perfected this presentation of dynamic music, comedy, and enchanting dance. I’m still in awe of the choreography.
