A Selective Guide to the Arts in Los Angeles

Music & Conversations

This Saturday evening consider hearing Ida Levin (violin), Lila Brown (viola), Antonio Lysy (cello), Delores Stevens (piano), Bryan Pezzone (piano), and M.B. Gordy (percussion) in the new venue for Music & Conversations in the Culver City Arts District.  Moreover, how especially nice it will be to mingle and chat with the artists and guests while sharing wine and hors d’oeuvres from Casa Torelli.

The diverse program includes:

Robert Schumann: Adagio and Allegro for viola and piano, Op.70

Bohuslav Martinu: Three Madrigals for violin and viola

Igor Stravinsky: Duo Concertante for violin and piano

Joaquin Turina: Piano Quartet, Op.67

Jazz Improvisations: Bryan Pezzone and M.B. Gordy

The Turina Piano Quartet grabbed my attention; it has the influence of Debussy with a distinctly Spanish voice – love the Vivo!  Also, the jazz improvisations are ripe with creative possibilities, and may make for a most interesting program.

Saturday, June 12, 8 p.m.; Wine & hors d’oeuvres, 7:30 p.m.

High Profile Productions, 5896 Smiley Drive, Culver City

Tickets:  $40 ($25 students) in advance via PayPal; $45 ($30 students) at the door.  Advance ticket purchase or reservation by email required: mailto:musicandconversations@gmail.com
