Jacaranda: Music at the Edge
Directors Patrick Scott and Mark Alan Hilt crafted a wonderful program for the Jacaranda series concerts Saturday and Sunday.   The sweet collection of Charles Ives’ works, including one of my all-time personal favorites, “Over the Pavements,” is the draw for me; and there is a world premiere by Ben Johnston, and works by Ernst Krenek and Samuel Barber as well.

Come enjoy this extraordinary program that is certain to entertain and delight.  With its motto “music at the edge,” Jacaranda presents classics and modern together, such that each program has a point of view, with artists drawn from the ranks of the Southland’s top-tier performers, often with premier international guests.

The ensemble for this concert includes the Denali Quartet (with Sarah Thornblade and Joel Pargman, violins; Alma Lisa Fernandez, viola; Timothy Loo, cello); Scott Dunn, piano; Elissa Johnston, soprano; Mikhail Korzhev, piano; and the Jacaranda Chamber Orchestra with Mark Alan Hilt conducting.
