A Selective Guide to the Arts in Los Angeles

Assembling a seven-weekend series of live movement-based performances that can remind us of some of what we missed over the past two years, the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents its fifth annual “Dance at the Odyssey Festival” June 2-July 16, 2022, with shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (8 pm) and Sunday matinee (2 pm).

Starting with a two-week run from L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, the following five weeks highlight Primera Generación Dance Collective; choreographer Teresa Toogie Barcelo, Galiana & Nikolchev, Hannah Millar and German choreographers deufert&plischke. Each event brings a different aesthetic to the stage with innovative, cutting-edge ideas about theater, movement, sound, spoken word and a plethora of interdisciplinary combinations.

The series has been thoughtfully, yet adventurously curated by Barbara Mueller-Wittmann. Beth Hogan and Mueller-Wittmann are the producers for the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble. Each highlighted artist or company brings in its own cast and crew, allowing viewers an even wider range of artistic diversity.
