  • Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: The Academy presents all 10 of the Best Picture nominees of 1939, including “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” and “The Wizard of Oz,” over the course of 10 weeks on Monday evenings. The “Buck Rogers” serial begins each evening at 7 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater (8949 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills), followed by the film at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are only $5, and $3 for students.
