A Selective Guide to the Arts in Los Angeles

Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz presents Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà in concert.

Théâtre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK), the performance space at Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles, presents Angèle Dubeau & La Pietà in Concert on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. Prominent French-Canadian violin virtuoso Angèle Dubeau, accompanied by her sensational all-female classical string ensemble, La Pietà, will perform material from the luminous “Blanc,” Dubeau’s latest album, as well as interpretations of pieces by Philip Glass and additional works from the performer’s oeuvre.

Declared the Best Classical Album of 2014 by iTunes Canada, “Blanc” is the 38th album in Dubeau’s impressive career. Dubeau’s “serene and heartfelt” (Classic FM) contemporary classical album consists of 14 pieces from 12 composers, including movie maestros Ennio Morricone, Joe Hisaishi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, as well as jazz and folk selections from Dave Brubeck and Cat Stevens. The pieces on the album, which evoke a sense of light and peace, all personally helped Dubeau through a recent struggle with cancer.
