A Selective Guide to the Arts in Los Angeles

Theatre Raymond Kabbaz (TRK) presents the Los Angeles premiere of Le Petit Chaperon Rouge (Little Red Riding Hood), by award-winning writer-director Joël Pommerat, on March 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m. We all know the story of Little Red Riding Hood and yet…

In the beautifully concise, archetypal language of fairy tales, Pommerat rewrites the steps of the most famous story, preserving its original structure while teasing out a profound rite of initiation and passage. What results is a crisp, wholly modern interpretation of a bittersweet classic. No less appropriate for adults as it is for children, this delicate story is perfect for anyone who has ever faced fear, loneliness or the ambivalence of growing up. A bored little girl, a busy and forbidding mother and lonely grandmother, all affected by one scary but chatty wolf, are all it takes.

The 45-minute play is performed in French with projected English subtitles. Suitable for children age 8 and up. A no-host bar will be available.
