A Selective Guide to the Arts in Los Angeles

With a caveat warning that “sweat and ‘blood’ may be spilled” in the final lines of their promotional materials, dancer Jobel Medina and musician Elliott Sellers bring “IMMDED IMMGEWD” to audiences at the Los Angeles Dance Project’s Studio Theater this Thursday through Saturday, September 6-8, at 8 p.m.

The evening-length collaboration between the dynamic mover and the multi-instrumentalist is an extension of an earlier work described as “fusing unconventional percussion, cello and visceral movement.”

Medina, a Cal Arts grad with experience in commercial as well as in concert dance performance is described by LADP’s leader, Benjamin Millepied, as “a captivating performer with a singular approach to exploring space and time through the physicality of his dance.”

Sellers has a history as a music experimentalist with a long list of other talents: director, producer, writer, cinematographer and editor.

Together, the two artists feed off each other to create “an intimate dialogue that explores a range of possibilities in their relationship within the piece.”
