For the fourth year running, West LA’s Odyssey Theatre Ensemble hosts its Dance at the Odyssey festival of contemporary dance starting this Friday, Jan. 10. Continuing through Sunday, Feb. 9, the series brings a different artist or company to its stage for each of the five weeks. The participating dance movers and makers range from the emerging to the established and on to the veteran creators.

These are:

String Theory Jan. 10-12

Acts of Matter and DANCE AEGIS Jan. 17-19

JA Collective and Slauson Rec Jan. 24-26;

L.A. Contemporary Dance Company Jan. 30-Feb. 1

Victoria Marks Feb. 7-9

Showcasing an assortment of aesthetics and movement vocabularies, the month-plus is an immersion into the rich activities that draw the best in LA’s contemporary concert dance scene. The programs are filled with world and local premieres, original choreography, music that may have never been heard before and imagery that’s never been seen. Each week has a different performance schedule, so check that out ahead of time.
