Having established an annual festival for exciting new contemporary dance productions, LA’s Odyssey Theatre is expanding its “Dance at the Odyssey” to a second stage.
For six weeks, Thursday, Jan. 8, through Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, the Barbara Műller-Wittmann-curated event will include over 17 up-and-coming and established dancemakers, six companies and three evenings of award-winning dance films that explore the range of movement-based ideas coming from Los Angeles area artists.
Responding to its previous eight years of success in hosting a cavalcade of performances where the physical body is the medium and the message (or at least an integral part of it), this ninth year extension welcomes even more perspectives onto its stages. Returning creatives bring new projects or more fully developed productions, while virgin contributors offer their own personal movement essays into the mix. In addition, Rosanna Gamson / World Wide offers a four-hour workshop for choreographers on Sunday, Jan. 18, “Less Hot Air About Dance,” and Julianna Bloodgood with Galiana&Nikolchev’s The Useless Room will teach “Embodied Voice, The Voice of Release” on the weekend of Feb. 7 and 8.
